In conjunction with American Heart Month, NJHA-HBS invites you to join us for Cardiac Coding Tips and Guideline Review.

Due to the complexity of cardiac diagnoses and procedures, the coding in the circulatory system often presents challenges for HIM Professionals. This program will review and reinforce coding concepts related to the heart. We will review such diagnoses as hypertension, coronary artery disease,
myocardial infarction, and arrhythmias. We will review procedures and guidelines related to cardiac catheterizations, PTCA, and CABG.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
● Summarize cardiac coding guidelines for ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS
● Provide a brief overview of cardiovascular anatomy
● Teach participants to recognize clinical indicators for correct diagnosis code assignment, including COVID-19.
● Demonstrate difficult but common cardiac procedure coding
● Show examples with coding scenarios
